Meteorologists caution area residents about the potential for thunderstorms Tuesday evening.

HUDSON VALLEY, NY — Rain and thunderstorms are predicted to impact the Hudson Valley region Tuesday evening and overnight.

The National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather outlook for Tuesday for the region, including Orange, Putnam, Rockland and Westchester counties.

“There is a marginal to slight risk of excessive rainfall capable of producing localized flash flooding, and a marginal risk of severe thunderstorms capable of producing strong to damaging wind gusts,” the National Weather Service indicated.

Wednesday is expected to be sunny and warm still, with highs in the 80s, but it won’t be as muggy and sticky, according to DiRienzo. Thursday will be similar to Wednesday, though there is a chance for an afternoon storm Thursday too, he said.

As for the July 4 holiday, the forecast for Friday is for slightly cooler temperatures, in the low 80s, and sunny skies, according to the National Weather Service.

“The 4th looks like really good weather for picnics and fireworks,” DiRienzo said.
