Hudson Valley Weather: Coastal Storm Could Bring Rain, Wind This Weekend: NWS
A freeze watch is in place for later this week, according to meteorologists.

HUDSON VALLEY, NY — A coastal storm could bring rain, strong winds and widespread coastal flooding to southeastern New York from Sunday into Monday, according to the National Weather Service.
It issued a hazardous weather outlook statement Wednesday.
Christina Speciale, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service based in Albany, said the coastal storm is “something we are watching.”

“It is not a high-confidence forecast, and it could change in the next few days,” Speciale said.
If the storm does track northward and into the Hudson Valley, it is expected to be mostly a rain event here, she said.

It would impact the region Sunday and into Monday, according to Speciale, making it both breezy and rainy.
Wind speeds would be higher closer to New York City and the coast, she said.
“It could be a breezy and rainy Columbus Day,” she said.
In the short term, the Hudson Valley will be experiencing more autumn-like temperatures this week.
“(Thursday) will be cool and more like October, with highs in the 50s,” Speciale said. “Get out your jackets. It will be breezy, with plenty of sunshine.”
The Mid Hudson Valley region has a freeze watch in effect from Thursday evening through Friday morning.
Friday and Saturday are both predicted to be sunny days, with highs in the 60s, followed by potential impacts from the coastal storm starting on Sunday.
