Hudson Valley Weather: Thunderstorms, Rain In Forecast

HUDSON VALLEY, NY — It is going to be a wet few days in the Hudson Valley, with rain and possible thunderstorms in the forecast, according to the National Weather Service.
Brett Rathbun, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service based in Albany, said Tuesday the Hudson Valley region will experience “much needed rainfall” this week.
There is a potential for thunderstorms on Tuesday afternoon and on Thursday, according to Rathbun.

For the remainder of Tuesday and Wednesday, rain will be scattered, followed by more widespread rain on Thursday, according to Rathbun.
“There will be periods of rain each day,” Rathbun said. “It is needed, as it has been about two weeks since the last rainfall.”

From now through Thursday, the Hudson Valley region is expected to accumulate between one and two inches of rain, he said. On Friday, it is expected to be drier, but there is a potential for showers.
Today will be the warmest day of the work week, with high temperatures reaching to about 80 degrees, while the rest of the week will be in the mid-to-upper 70s during the day, according to the National Weather Service.

Tonight: Showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm before 11 p.m., then a chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 62. Calm wind. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New precipitation amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible.
Wednesday: A slight chance of showers, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2 p.m. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 77. Calm wind becoming northeast around 5 mph in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 40%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
