K9 Vinn Sniffs Out Crack In Honda Accord On Taconic, North Carolina Man Arrested: NYSP

TOWN OF LAGRANGE, NY — A four-legged investigator helped interdict a substantial stash of crack headed for the streets, according to state police.

New York State Police say that on Tuesday, around 3:45 p.m., members of the New York State Police Troop K Community Stabilization Unit (CSU) pulled over a 2025 Honda Accord traveling north on the Taconic State Parkway, in the Town of Lagrange.

The driver, and only one in the car, was identified as 44-year-old Jeffrey C. Shaw, of Greensboro, North Carolina.

During the stop, NYSP K9 Vinn sniffed around the exterior of the Honda and alerted officers to the presence of narcotics, police said. A search of Shaw's person then led to troopers finding around 65.8 grams of crack cocaine on him, according to troopers.

He was arrested and charged with felony third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, felony third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance (intent to sell), misdemeanor resisting arrest, and misdemeanor second-degree obstruction of governmental administration.

Shaw was arraigned in the Town of Stanford Court and remanded to the Dutchess County Justice and Transition Center pending a future court date.
