Local author to hold book discussion and signing at CO in Rhinebeck
Award-winning local journalist and author Yardena Schwartz will hold a book discussion and signing at CO on Tuesday, Oct. 1.

RHINEBECK — CO is pleased to announce a book signing and reading with award-winning Hudson Valley author and journalist Yardena Schwartz from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 1.
From 6-8 p.m., a Yardena Schwartz will hold a book signing and launch party at CO. Her new book, Ghosts of a Holy War, tells the story of the 1929 massacre in Palestine that ignited the Arab-Israeli conflict, its aftermath, and the chilling echoes of that century-old massacre on Oct. 7, 2023. Ghosts of a Holy War debuts on Oct. 1, and has already garnered early praise from several award-winning authors.
According to Yossi Klein Halevi, author of the New York Times bestseller Letters to My Palestinian Neighbor, “If you are going to read one book to help you understand the current Middle East tragedy, this is it."

As part of the event, Yardena will be interviewed by fellow local author Evan Hughes, whose latest book is Pain Hustlers (originally published as The Hard Sell), a narrative nonfiction account of the dramatic rise and fall of an opioid maker. A feature film based on the book, starring Emily Blunt, Chris Evans, Andy Garcia and Catherine O’Hara, debuted in theaters and on Netflix in October 2023.

About Yardena Schwartz
Yardena Schwartz is an award-winning journalist and Emmy-nominated producer who worked at NBC News, including stints at the Today show, Nightly News with Brian Williams, and MSNBC’s Andrea Mitchell Reports. Her reporting has appeared in the New York Times, New York Review of Books, the Wall Street Journal, The Economist, TIME, National Geographic, and Rolling Stone, among other publications. She graduated with honors from Columbia Journalism School in 2011 and received an Emmy nomination for her work at MSNBC in 2013. She then spent a decade reporting from Israel, earning the 2016 RNA award for excellence in magazine reporting. She now lives in New York’s Hudson Valley with her husband and children.

CO, located at 6571 Spring Brook Ave. (Route 9) across from the Dutchess County Fairgrounds, opened in 2018 after a two-year re-design and renovation led by local architect Frank Mazzarella.
