Police said the man struck the conductor in the face multiple times with a closed fist and a railroad padlock.

PORT JERVIS, NY — A man and two teenagers were arrested after being accused of beating a Metro-North Railroad train conductor.

Police said the assault happened at the Port Jervis train station Sept. 7 when the trio broke the conductor’s jaw.

While the teens were not named, Damarion D. Gulley, 22, who has no known address, was arrested in West Nyack and charged with two counts of second-degree assault, felonies, and one count of fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, a misdemeanor.

They said he struck the conductor in the face multiple times with a closed fist and a railroad padlock. The conductor suffered a fractured jaw, according to authorities.

Two juveniles, age 13 and 15, were also charged in the assault, police said.

Port Jervis Police Chief William Worden said the brazen attack on someone at their workplace was an affront to the fundamental values of the community.

“This conduct will never be accepted, and will be met with a swift, thorough and certain law enforcement response that will not rest until all involved persons are held accountable,” he said.

Orange County District Attorney David Hoovler said the conduct alleged in this case was “simply reprehensible.”

He said transportation employees, such as the victim, deserve to go about their jobs without fear of assault.

“My office will work with our law enforcement partners to see that all of those responsible for this attack are held to account for their actions,” Hoovler said.

The City of Port Jervis Police Department conducted the investigation in conjunction with the Orange County District Attorney’s Office, the MTA Police Department, the Clarkstown Police Department, the Town of Wallkill Police Department and the Hudson Valley Crime Analysis Center.
