Man Accused Of Grabbing, Dragging 15-Year-Old Girl Toward Alley In Poughkeepsie: PD

A Good Samaritan came to the teen's rescue, according to police.

POUGHKEEPSIE, NY — A man followed a 15-year-old girl on South White Street, grabbed her, put his hand over her mouth and then pulled her toward an alley Monday morning, according to police.

The teen screamed, which attracted the attention of a Good Samaritan, who intervened and then flagged down responding police officers, according to Det. Lt. Sean McCarthy.

The attack happened around 9:30 a.m. Monday morning. Police conducted a search of the area, then located the suspect and took him into custody, police said.

Andrew Kosmider, 25, of Hyde Park, has been charged with endangering the welfare of a child, first-degree unlawful imprisonment, and attempted third-degree robbery.

The incident, including the motive, remains under investigation.
