Man Stabbed After Attempted Robbery In Poughkeepsie

Police are looking for the person who fled from the scene.

POUGHKEEPSIE, NY — Police are searching for a male who stabbed someone after trying to rob him.

The City of Poughkeepsie Police Department said, shortly after 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, officers were sent to the area of Fox Terrace for a report of a stabbing.

Arriving officers found a 48-year-old man who had a serious stab wound to his leg.

Immediate medical aid was rendered including the application of a tourniquet used to stop the uncontrolled bleeding, police said.

The victim said a man tried to rob him and then a struggle happened that led to the stabbing.

He fled the area before police arrived.

The victim was taken to an area hospital where he underwent emergency surgery and is expected to recover, police said.

Detectives and crime scene technicians investigated.
