New Paltz Middle Schoolers Host 38th Blood Drive

The Election Day event was part of saving almost 11,000 lives over the past 21 years.

NEW PALTZ, NY — Students at New Paltz Middle School held a blood drive on Election Day in New Paltz.

The school is part of the Little Doctors Program, a spokesperson said, where elementary and middle school students learn about volunteerism, community service and science by organizing community blood drives.

New Paltz Middle School students have hosted 38 blood drives since beginning a partnership with the New York Blood Center in 2002.

The drives have been responsible for collecting 3,188 blood donations and saving 10,988 lives over the past 21 years, according to officials.

Donors can give blood every 56 days, and platelet donors can give twice per month.
