Newburgh Town Police Officer Killed In Snowmobile Crash
Officer Daniel "DJ" Romano was snowmobiling and crashed into a tree Friday in Herkimer County.
NEWBURGH, NY — A town of Newburgh police officer died in a snowmobile crash Friday.
Officer Daniel "DJ" Romano was snowmobiling and crashed into a tree in Webb, Herkimer County, the Observer-Dispatch reported.
He was 32 years old.

Romano was off duty and was pronounced dead after being taken from the scene, police said.
According to a post from Newburgh Supervisor Gil Piaquadio on the town of Newburgh website, the officer left behind a wife and two children.

"He was an outstanding husband, father and a compassionate community-minded police officer," Piaquadio said, adding that he was promoted to detective posthumously.
Visitation will be held from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Brooks Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Ave. in Newburgh. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday at Sacred Heart Church in Newburgh.
His wife Kaitlyn Romano and daughters Adrianna and Alina, ages 2 and 1 respectively, survive him, along with his mother Kimberli Romano, father James Romano, a brother, nieces, cousins, aunts and uncles, according to his obituary.
A GoFundMe account was established to help his wife and daughters. More than $211,000 has been raised in the past two days.
