NYC Corrections Officer Sentenced For Stabbing Wife
Prosecutors said the man broke into his wife's home in violation of an order of protection and stabbed her.
MIDDLETOWN, NY — A former New York City corrections officer will be going to prison after admitting he broke into his wife’s home and stabbing her.
Orange County District Attorney David Hoovler said that Jonathan Harris, 41, of Middletown, was sentenced Monday to 10 years in state prison followed by five years of post-release supervision in connection with his guilty plea to first-degree burglary for a violent home invasion stabbing.
As admitted in court, on July 16, Harris broke into the town of Wallkill home of his wife in violation of a previously issued order of protection.

Harris fled from the home but was apprehended after a traffic stop by police
It was later determined he was an active corrections officer for New York City.
Hoovler said the sentence was significant and appropriate in light of the admitted violent conduct.
“This type of behavior is reprehensible for anyone, let alone a sworn corrections officer who is entrusted to protect and serve,” he said.
“I urge all victims of domestic violence to seek out the support available to them by contacting law enforcement, my officer or organizations such as Fearless! Hudson Valley who are there to assist,” Hoovler said.
