Obituary: Barbara Jeter-Jackson, County Legislator, Dies At 82
The chairman of the county legislature said Jeter-Jackson had been ill.
POUGHKEEPSIE, NY — County Legislator Barbara Jeter-Jackson, who represented District 10 in the City of Poughkeepsie, is being mourned after dying at the age of 82. Her death was confirmed Sunday by County Executive Marc Molinaro.
"Today we are filled with great sorrow as we mourn the loss of Dutchess County Legislator Barbara Jeter-Jackson," Molinaro said in a news release.
"She embodied the very spirit of resilience, dignity and grace," he said. "She was an unflinching advocate, partner and friend."

Poughkeepsie Mayor Rob Rolison said Jeter-Jackson "embodied the best of public service.
"She dedicated her life to helping others and made the City of Poughkeepsie — and our region — stronger through her selfless work," he said in a news release.

"She was a dear friend, and someone the community could always count on to provide clear guidance," Rolison said.
Rep. Sean Patrick Maloney, a Democrat from Cold Spring, said on Facebook that Jeter-Jackson was "a wonderful, gracious and effective county legislator who treated everyone like royalty.
"She was a shining example of how to lead — in Poughkeepsie and across New York," he said.
Dutchess County Legislature Chairman Gregg Pulver said he was unaware of the cause of Jeter-Jackson's death, the Poughkeepsie Journal reported, but had been aware that she had been ill.
