Obituary: Cpl. Marcello L. Scrudato, 24, Of Fishkill
Scrudato, who was serving at Fort Bragg, was killed in a single-vehicle accident Jan. 29 in North Carolina.
FISHKILL, NY — Cpl. Marcello L. Scrudato, a Fishkill resident serving at Fort Bragg Army Base, was killed in a single-vehicle accident Jan. 29 in Sanford, North Carolina. He was 24.
Scrudato was called an outstanding individual by Lt. Col. Burton Furlow, commander of the 528th Special Troops Battalion, The Fayetteville Observer reported.
"Our organization is devastated and will truly miss our teammate," he said.

Scrudato was born in Mount Kisco and previously lived in Ossining, according to his obituary.
He graduated in 2015 from John Jay High School in Fishkill and enlisted in the Army two years later.

Scrudato was a human resources specialist and was once deployed to Jordan, CBS17 reported.
He is survived by his parents, Carmelo and Maria Auxiliadora Scrudato of Fishkill, and his twin sister, Maria Cristina Scrudato of Fishkill.
A mass with military honors will be celebrated at St. Mary, Mother of the Church, 106 Jackson St. in Fishkill at noon Friday.
