POUGHKEEPSIE, NY — The founder and chef of the popular Mole Mole Restaurant in Poughkeepsie died March 2.
Eleazar "Chay" Ortiz of Poughkeepsie died at 47.
According to his obituary, he was born in Mexico to Cristobal and Rafaela M. Gutierrez Ortiz.

Ortiz is survived by his brother Cristobal "Cris" Ortiz and his sister Rosa E. Ortiz, both of Poughkeepsie. He also has four nephews and a niece.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 9 at the William G. Miller & Son Funeral Home, 371 Hooker Ave. in Poughkeepsie.

A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 10 in St. Mary's Church, 231 Church St. in Poughkeepsie.
Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
