PA Woman Pretends To Be Lawyer In Hudson Valley: NYSP

Police said she collected retainer fees while representing herself as a member of a law firm.

MONROE, NY — A Pennsylvania woman was accused of pretending to be a lawyer in the Hudson Valley.

The New York State Police said Tara Muller, 41, of Milford, Pennsylvania, was arrested Friday after an investigation found she was representing herself as an employee of a law firm in the Hudson Valley while collecting retainer fees and representation from potential clients.

Muller was charged with unauthorized practice of profession, fourth-degree grand larceny, offering a false instrument for filing and falsifying business records.

The state police Monroe Bureau of Criminal Investigation is asking anyone who may have had contact with Muller as she represented herself with any law offices to call the New York State Police at 845-344-5300 and reference SJS number 11759549.
