Paddle Boarder Who Drowned On Walton Lake ID'd By Authorities As LI Man
The 36-year-old was on an inflatable paddle board about 40ft from the shore, when he fell in the water, struggled, and did not resurface.

MONROE, NY — The paddle boarder who drowned in a Hudson Valley lake has been identified by authorities as a Long Island man.
New York State Police say that troopers from Monroe responded to Walton Lake, in the area of Lakes Road and Sergio Lane, in the town of Monroe, on Saturday afternoon, after receiving a report of a drowning.
The initial investigation found that 36-year-old Mohammadsadegh Kiani, of Plainview, had traveled to Walton Lake to meet with friends.

State police say that Kiani was about 40 feet from the shore, in water around 6 to 7 feet deep, sitting alone on a yellow inflatable paddle board. He then lost his balance and fell into the water, where he began to struggle and did not resurface, according to police.
Patrons from the American Legion Post, directly across the street, rushed to the lake and removed Kiani from the water. They started life-saving measures and continued until the arrival of EMS personnel and police.

Kiani was taken to Garnet Health Medical Center in critical condition, where he later died from his injuries. Police say the drowning was determined to be accidental in nature, with no foul play suspected.
NYSP were assisted at the scene by the Orange County Sheriff's Office and the Town of Chester Police Department.
