Pilot Flying Over Stewart Reports Laser Pointed At His Aircraft

The commercial pilot said he was flying a Republic Airways E1-70 at an altitude of about 17,000 feet.

NEW WINDSOR, NY — The pilot of a commercial passenger flight near New York Stewart International Airport reported that a laser was pointed at his aircraft Monday.

The New York State Police said they were contacted by a Boston Control Tower supervisor in New Hampshire that the pilot reported the incident as his plane was northbound over Stewart.

The pilot said the green laser was shined at the front left of the aircraft, and reportedly came from an unlit area between the airport and the Hudson River.

State police investigators interviewed the pilot later and he said he was flying a Republic Airways E1-70 at an altitude of about 17,000 feet at the time.
