Port Jervis Man Accused Of Carrying Defaced Illegal Gun: NYSP
The semi-automatic 9mm pistol had a defaced serial number, police said.

PORT JERVIS, NY — A 20-year-old city resident faces weapons charges after a traffic search on Monday, New York State police said.
At 2:50 p.m., members of the Troop F Community Stabilization Unit saw a 2012 Acura violating numerous vehicle and traffic laws on Ball Street in Port Jervis.
Troopers initiated a traffic stop and identified the operator as Matthew Daliz. While speaking with him, troopers said they developed probable cause to search the vehicle. They found a black and silver semi-automatic 9mm pistol with a defaced serial number in a black bag along with four rounds of ammunition, police said.

Daliz was subsequently arrested and charged with second- and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon.
He was arraigned in the Town of Warwick Court and remanded to Orange County Jail on $50,000 Cash/$100,000 Bond/$150,000 Secured Bond. He is scheduled to appear in the City of Port Jervis Court at a later date, police said.
