Port Jervis Man Accused Of Drug Trafficking
Authorities said the man also failed to register as a sex offender.
PORT JERVIS, NY — A Port Jervis man faces multiple felonies for illegally selling drugs and failing to register as a sex offender.
Orange County District Attorney Damon Don, 46, was arrested Wednesday after a month’s long investigation by the Port Jervis city police into narcotics trafficking in the Port Jervis area.
He was charged with five counts of third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance, six counts of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and one count of fourth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, all felonies, and two counts of second-degree criminally using drug paraphernalia, misdemeanors.

Don was also charged with felony sexual offender registry violation, second offense. He is currently under community supervision for life for having been previously convicted as a sexual offender in New Jersey.
He was additionally charged with being a fugitive from justice from New Jersey, because authorities said he failed to comply with the provision of his parole.

Hoovler commended the City of Port Jervis Police Department for proactively targeting illegal drug trafficking operations.
“Identifying who is causing the most harm in a community and working collaboratively with other law enforcement agencies, such as the Orange County Drug Task Force and Orange County Sheriff’s Office, to eliminate those threats is the surest way to keep our communities safe,” he said.
