Probationary CO Accused Of Smuggling Phone Into Ulster Jail
Authorities said the inmate was charged with two counts of felony promoting prison contraband.

KINGSTON, NY — An Ulster County probationary corrections officer was accused of smuggling a cell phone into the Ulster County Jail and giving it to a prisoner to use.
The Ulster County Sheriff’s Office said detectives started an investigation after information was received about the corrections officer, who was identified as Shawn A. Teuber, 25, of Fleischmanns, Delaware County.
The investigation found that he provided a cell phone to an incarcerated man while working as a housing unit officer in the Ulster County Jail, authorities said.

Detectives said they determined who the inmate was and confirmed that, on two separate occasions, the inmate had a cell phone while inside the jail.
Teuber surrendered to detectives Sept. 18 at the Ulster County Law Enforcement Center.

He was charged with first-degree promoting prison contraband, a felony, and official misconduct, a misdemeanor, and released on an appearance ticket to return to the City of Kingston Court on a later date.
The inmate was charged with two counts of first-degree promoting prison contraband, felonies. He remains at the Ulster County jail on unrelated charges and will be arraigned in the City of Kingston Court on a future date.
