Rain, Snow To Impact Hudson Valley Wednesday: Find Out The Latest Forecast
The type of precipitation will vary depending on location and elevation, according to meteorologists.
HUDSON VALLEY, NY — Widespread snow will fall in portions of the Hudson Valley this afternoon, while southern areas will mostly get rain, according to the National Weather Service.
Michael Main, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service based in Albany, said most of the region will get under an inch of total precipitation, except for in the higher terrain of Ulster County and the Catskills.
There is a winter weather advisory in effect through 1 a.m. Thursday which includes western Ulster County. The area could get between two and six inches of snow.

“Roads, and especially bridges and overpasses, will likely become slick and hazardous,” the advisory cautions.
Most of today’s precipitation will be this afternoon and evening, and it is expected to taper off between 7 p.m. and 10 p.m.. according to Main.

The southern portions of the Hudson Valley are expected to get rain, according to the National Weather Service.
Following today’s precipitation, Thursday and Friday are expected to be dry, clear and windy.
Meteorologists are tracking a potential for snow showers late Saturday and into Sunday, according to Main, who said there is still uncertainty about the amount of accumulation.
Here are the forecast details for the Mid-Hudson Valley area via the National Weather Service:
Today: Rain and snow. High near 38. South wind around 9 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. Little or no snow accumulation expected.
Tonight: A chance of rain and snow before 7 p.m., then a chance of rain between 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. Cloudy, then gradually becoming partly cloudy, with a low around 25. South wind around 7 mph becoming west after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 50%. Little or no snow accumulation expected.
Thursday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 32. West wind 8 to 14 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph.
Thursday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 20. West wind 7 to 9 mph, with gusts as high as 22 mph.
Friday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 34. West wind 6 to 9 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph.
Friday Night: A slight chance of snow showers after 1 a.m. Partly cloudy, with a low around 16. Chance of precipitation is 20%.
Saturday: Partly sunny, with a high near 36.
Saturday Night: A chance of snow showers after 1 a.m. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 22. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
Sunday: Partly sunny, with a high near 30.

Today: Rain, mainly after 4 p.m. High near 42. South wind around 13 mph, with gusts as high as 28 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.
Tonight: Rain, mainly before 7 p.m. Low around 29. Wind chill values between 20 and 25. Southwest wind 10 to 14 mph becoming west after midnight. Winds could gust as high as 26 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%.
Thursday: Mostly sunny, with a steady temperature around 31. Wind chill values between 15 and 20. Breezy, with a west wind 16 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 34 mph.
Thursday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 23. Wind chill values between 10 and 15. West wind around 16 mph, with gusts as high as 32 mph.
Friday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 34. West wind 11 to 14 mph, with gusts as high as 24 mph.
Friday Night: A 30 percent chance of snow after 1 a.m. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 23.
