Services For Major Brophy To Be Held Friday In Poughkeepsie

The Marine was killed in a collision with a fighter jet off the southern coast of Japan in December.

Maj. James M. Brophy, who died in a military plane crash in December will be honored during services Friday, Jan. 11 at the Majed J. Nesheiwat Convention Center, formerly known as the Mid-Hudson Civic Center, in Poughkeepsie.

Visitation will begin at the convention center at 9 a.m. with a memorial service following at 11 a.m., the Poughkeepsie Journal said.

Immediately following the service, there will be a procession from the convention center to the Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery.

There will be delays, detours and temporary traffic closures during the time of the procession.
