Services For Major Brophy To Be Held Friday In Poughkeepsie

Maj. James M. Brophy, who died in a military plane crash in December will be honored during services Friday, Jan. 11 at the Majed J. Nesheiwat Convention Center, formerly known as the Mid-Hudson Civic Center, in Poughkeepsie.

Visitation will begin at the convention center at 9 a.m. with a memorial service following at 11 a.m., the Poughkeepsie Journal said.

Immediately following the service, there will be a procession from the convention center to the Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery.

There will be delays, detours and temporary traffic closures during the time of the procession.

Brophy, 36, and four other Marines were killed in the Dec. 6 crash.

He was aboard a refueling aircraft that collided with a fighter jet off the southern coast of Japan.

Brophy, a Staatsburg resident, is survived by his wife, son and daughter.
