State Police Target Garbage Haulers For Leaving Debris On Route 17

Enforcement efforts will continue for the foreseeable future, authorities said.

ORANGE COUNTY, NY — Large amounts of garbage have been deposited on Route 17 in Orange County, and law enforcement now believes they found some responsible parties.

The New York State Police and members of the New York State Police Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Unit conducted a joint detail March 20 on Route 17 in Orange County with enhanced enforcement on garbage truck haulers.

Authorities said these haulers have been responsible for depositing large amounts of garbage on Route 17.

Troopers said they inspected five trucks and issued tickets for unsecure loads, weight violations and other equipment violations.

State police said they will continue enforcement efforts for the foreseeable future.
