Stop & Shop Donates $2M to Feeding America Food Banks in Tri-States
$100,000 Donated to the Regional Food Bank Hudson Valley to Support Hunger Relief Programs Across Hudson Valley

Stop & Shop presented a check for $100,000 to the Regional Food Bank Hudson Valley at their distribution center in Cornwall. Stop & Shop associates also volunteered at the distribution center as they support the Hudson Valley Just in Time Delivery program. Stop & Shop’s primary charitable effort is to fight hunger across its region and was honored that its donation will help the Regional Food Bank Hudson Valley to combat food insecurity across Hudson Valley. The donation is part of a larger $2 million donation from Stop & Shop to eight Feeding America food banks across New Jersey, New York, and Connecticut to support programs that fight against food insecurity.
According to the Regional Food Bank Hudson Valley, 1-in-10 people, and 1-in-7 children are food insecure in the Hudson Valley. The donation of $100,000 will help serve 200,000 meals and support the 225,000 neighbor visits the Food Bank sees each month.
The donation from Stop & Shop came from a combination of its in-store ‘Food for Friends’ campaign, which ran from May 1st to May 31st, and the Stop & Shop Family Foundation. $25,000 was raised through the ‘Food for Friends’ campaign and $75,000 was donated from the Stop & Shop Family Foundation to support the Regional Food Bank Hudson Valley’s Just in Time Delivery program.
Just in Time Delivery delivers perishable food to food pantries ‘just in time’ for them to open, overcoming pantries’ barriers of inadequate transportation and storage capacity for such items. The program aims to boost nutritional content of what people receive at food pantries; by increasing access to fresh fruit, vegetables, and dairy for the Hudson Valley neighbors in need.

Stop & Shop has been a generous partner of the Regional Food Bank Hudson Valley for several years helping the organization continue to fight food insecurity. Stop & Shop’s ‘Feed It Forward’ campaign, Meat The Needs program, Annual Turkey Express program, Stop & Shop Family Foundation donation, School Food Pantry program, and direct support are a few of the many ways the company supports anti-hunger organizations in the communities it serves.
