The highest wind gusts will be across higher elevations, but all areas are expected to get widespread gusty winds, especially Friday.
“Winds this strong can make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles,” the advisory notes.
The National Weather Service in Albany reports the rainfall will be heavy at times, and the “magnitude of wind gusts will lead to the potential for power outages and property damage due to downed trees, limbs, and power lines.”
The National Weather Service in New York anticipates about an inch of rain will fall. Combined with warmer temperatures, any snow on the ground will likely melt, according to meteorologists.
After the system passes, the weekend is expected to be dry in the Hudson Valley. High temperatures on Saturday will reach into the upper 30s, while Sunday is expected to get up to the mid-40s, according to the National Weather Service.
