Stormy Weather To Arrive In Hudson Valley As Heat Wave Ends: NWS
The region will finally get relief from the heat; Heavy rain may bring flooding, according to forecasters.
HUDSON VALLEY, NY — The oppressive heat is expected to come to an end late Wednesday, then the region will experience a bout of stormy weather.
The National Weather Service has heat advisories in effect for the Hudson Valley through 8 p.m. Wednesday, and it cautions that the humidity could make it feel around 100 degrees.
Christina Speciale, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Albany, said there is a chance for isolated thunderstorms in the mid-Hudson Valley area today.

On Thursday, widespread rain will be moving in, and it will become moderate to heavy as the day progresses, she said.
“We are keeping an eye on the potential for flooding,” Speciale said. “We have been dry lately, and that could mitigate the effects.”

Approximately 1 to 3 inches of rain is expected, according to Speciale, with flooding a particular concern in low lying and poor drainage areas.
The southern portion of the Hudson Valley region, closer to New York City, is expected to get the heaviest rainfall, she added.
Thursday will be much cooler than it has been, with temperatures in the 70s, though it will remain muggy.
Thunderstorms are possible through Friday, according to the National Weather Service.
On Friday, it will be about 70 degrees, but it will be much less humid. Saturday is also expected to be very pleasant, with highs in the mid to upper 70s.
“It will feel like a world of difference,” Speciale said. “At night on Friday and Saturday, it will be a good opportunity to open windows and let cool air into homes.”
