Students Dismissed After Knife 'Incident' At Hudson Valley School

Students at the middle school who use bus transportation were dismissed first, administration officials said.

MIDDLETOWN, NY — Students at a Middletown school that was on lockdown Wednesday morning after an incident with a knife are being dismissed for the day.

Students who use the bus at Monhagen Middle School began to be dismissed at 9:45 a.m. Wednesday. according to district officials.

School officials posted on the district’s website that two students were injured at Monhagen Middle School, and they have been taken to get medical care.

Their families have been contacted, officials said.

Monhagen was put into a lockdown.

Bus students were dismissed first, and parents or guardians will be allowed to pick up students who don’t ride a bus after all the buses have left. All roads leading to the middle school will remain closed until the buses have left the campus.

Administration officials said that no intruder got into the building and that the incident was a student-on-student issue.

“All individuals believed to be involved are in police custody,” the district said.

Maple Hill Elementary School remains on a lockout, but is now operating on a normal schedule. In an abundance of caution, there is an increased police presence at and around the district’s schools Wednesday.
