Summer Music Is In The Air
Here are a few of the upcoming music events taking place in the Hudson Valley

Music is in the air. Warmer weather means there will be plenty of opportunities to hear live music, both free and for an admission price, indoors and outdoors. Here are a few music events taking place in the Hudson Valley.
Bedford/Katonah
Caramoor has too many events to list -- but here's a highlight: Saturday June 25 is the start of the American Roots Music Festival. Hurray for the Riff Raff/John Fullbright/Sara Watkins and more. Ticket information available here.

Croton-on-Hudson
The annual Clearwater Folk Festival that usually takes place on the Father’s Day weekend at Croton Point, will not happen this year, due to budget considerations as the boat, the Clearwater is undergoing expensive and extensive renovations.

Dobbs Ferry
Dobbs Ferry will hold 10 free Wednesday evening concerts, beginning June 22, at Waterfront Park, at the foot of High Street. The concerts run through August 24. If it rains the concerts will be held indoors at the Embassy Community Center at 60 Palisade Street,. Featured artists include Orange Julius and the Big Beat, The New York Jazz Exchange and the Jackie Gage Group. Concerts run from 6:30 to 8 p.m.
Highland Mills
The Second Annual Celtic Festival takes place on June 18 at Palaia Winery in Highland Mills. Featured performers are Jamison’s Revenge, The John Walsh Band, The McGuinnies, Whitney Road, and the The Rose of Tralee. You can find out about tickets here.
Highmount
The 2016 Belleayre Music Festival takes place on July 2 and 9, August 13, 20 and 27 and September 3 inside the Discovery Lodge at the base of Belleayre Mountain in Highmount. The not-for-profit Belleayre Conservatory, will present six concerts featuring Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductees, a 2016 Grammy winner, top names in jazz, up-and-coming Nashville stars, and the brightest young, local talent. Dinner, drinks, and stellar mountain atmosphere make for a great night of music in the Catskills. Belleayre Mountain Ski Center, 181 Galli Curci Rd., Highmount. You can find more information here.
Middletown
Middletown will present the Festival Square Concert Series at 29-37 West Main Street in Middletown. The free concerts take place from 7 to 9 p.m. every Friday through August 26. Classic. Alternative. Rock. Information is available here.
Newburgh
The Newburgh Music Festival will present a series of classical Faculty Concerts between June 24 and 26. The festival includes Russian, German and French-Spanish programs. Ticket information is available here.
New Rochelle
Commuters using the New Rochelle train station on Thursday evenings can expect free pop up performances between 5:30 and 7 p.m. The music series is presented by the New Rochelle Council on the Arts (NRCA) with Nissan of New Rochelle.
The New Rochelle Council of the Arts has also planned a series of pop-up concerts on June 18. The Jacob Harelick Groove, featuring some of the most talented young musicians from Manhattanville College, SUNY Purchase and the Berklee School of Music, will perform from 12:30 to 1:15 pm: at the Quaker Ridge Shopping Center (31 Quaker Ridge Rd. near North Avenue New Rochelle) and at 2 to 2:45 p.m. at Shoprite (8 Joyce Road, at Palmer Ave.)
Ossining
The Ossining Summer Concert Series at Louis Engel Park begins at 7 p.m. Friday, July 8 with the band Breakfast for the Boys. The eight-concert series will continue through the summer with a end of summer "Party in the Park scheduled for August 26th. Click here for the 2016 concert line-up.
Pleasantville
The 12th Annual Pleasantville Music Festival takes place on July 9 at 9 Parkway Field in Pleasantville. Gates open at 11 a.m., with music performances from noon to 9 p.m. Festival performers include KT Tunstall, The Revivalist, Aztec Two Step, Annie Minogue and Wild Adriatic. Rockland
The Rockland-Bergen Music Festival takes place at German Masonic Park, 89 Western Highway, Tappan on June 25 and 26. The gates open at 10:45 a.m., with music performances from 11:30 a.m. to 7:40 p.m. The festival features Jorma Kaukonen Southside Johnny and the Asburys and the Willie Nile's Band. Scarsdale
The New Rochelle Council of the Arts has planned pop-up concerts on June 18. The Jacob Harelick Groove, featuring some of the most talented young musicians from Manhattanville College, SUNY Purchase and the Berklee School of Music, will perform from 11 to 11:45 am Golden Horseshoe Shopping Center (1086 Wilmot Rd. at Weaver St. in Scarsdale).
Somers
Patty Larkin will perform at 7p.m. on Friday, July 15 at the Lasdon Park and Arboretum, 2610 Amawalk Road, Route 35. On July 22, Chamomile and Whiskey will perform from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Ticket information is available here.
Tarrytown/Sleepy Hollow
The Seventh Annual Sunset Jazz Festival will be held at Lyndhurst, 635 South Broadway in Tarrytown. The eight, free evening concerts take place on Thursdays from July 7 to August 25. Festival-goers can relax on the great lawn and enjoy cool music. Grounds open at 4 p.m. Music starts at 6:30 p.m. If it rains, the concerts are cancelled. Performers include the Django Festival All Stars, the Freddy Hendrix Quartet and the Stephanie Chou Project.
Jazz concerts will also be held at Pierson Park on West Main Street in Tarrytown. The eight, free Friday evening concerts begin July 8 and run through August 26. In case of inclement weather they will be held indoors in the recreation center. Featured performers include Jazmyn, the Audrey Silver Quintet and Jazz Forum Arts Vocal Winners.
There’s also a jazz concert series at Horan’s Landing park at 9 River Street, Sleepy Hollow. The four Tuesday evening concerts begin August 2 and run through August 23. Mark Morganelli and the Jazz Forum All Stars will play. Concerts are cancelled if it rains.
Woodstock
Woodstock hosts Concerts on the Green through September 2016. Concerts featuring talented local musicians, will take place from 1 to 5 p.m. on 6/25, 7/9, 7/23, 8/6, 8/20 and 9/3 at The Green on the corner of Rt. 212 and Rock City Rd. Check the website for schedule changes.
Woodstock’s Maverick Concerts begin June 25 and run through September 11. The Maverick Concerts are America’s oldest continuous summer chamber music festival. Concerts take place at Maverick Concert Hall, Maverick Road, Woodstock; 845-679-8217; www.maverickconcerts.org
Yonkers
The Cross County Shopping Center will host a series of free concerts from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Wednesdays, through July 13. The British Invasion concert is scheduled for July 1, featuring the sounds of The Zombies, The Moody Blues, Dave Clark Five, Herman’s Hermits and the Beatles.
The Hudson River Museum will host a dance and music performance from 8 to 9:30 p.m. Saturday, June 25. The event will feature break and modern dancers. The performance will be given in the museum’s amphitheater. The museum will present an Afro-Peruvian Percussion Ensemble on Friday, July 8, the Latin and flamenco sound of the Cintron Brothers on July 15 and Cherish the Ladies on Friday, July 22.
