Suspect Arrested In Brutal Stabbing Attack At Apartment Building
The 45-year-old victim, who had wounds to his chest, face and hands was able to describe his 22-year-old attacker, New Windsor police said.
NEW WINDSOR, NY — An Orange County man is facing attempted murder charges following Thursday's stabbing.
At 9:14 a.m., the New Windsor Police Department responded to the Old Forge Hill Apartments after a report of a stabbing.
Officers arriving at the scene found a 45-year-old man bleeding from stab wounds to his chest, face and hands. He was treated and taken to Montefiore St. Luke's Cornwall Hospital in Newburgh by New Windsor EMS.

Based on the description of the suspect the 45-year-old man gave police, officers found 22-year-old Khiyan Bascus, of New Windsor, in the area and arrested him. Police also found the weapons used in the stabbing.
Bascus was held pending arraignment at the Centralized Arraignment Part in Goshen. He was charged with felony second degree attempted murder, felony second degree assault, and misdemeanor fourth degree criminal possession of a weapon.

New Windsor police say they received assistance from the New York State Police, the Orange County Sheriff's Office, the Town of Cornwall Police Department, and the Town of Blooming Grove Police Department K-9 Unit.
