T-Storms, Heat Coming To Hudson Valley: What You Need To Know

HUDSON VALLEY, NY — Potentially severe thunderstorms and a heat wave are in the forecast for the region in the coming days.
The National Weather Service is warning of the potential for hazardous weather starting Thursday.
There is a chance for severe thunderstorms starting Thursday afternoon and evening, bringing damaging wind, heavy rain, lightning and possibly even hail. There is a small chance for a tornado, according to the National Weather Service.

Rosemary Webb, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service based in Albany, said the chance for a tornado is very low, around two percent.
Damaging wind gusts, up to 58 miles per hour, are of greater concern Thursday, according to Webb.

Thunderstorms on Thursday are most likely between 3 p.m. and 10 p.m., she said.
Friday and Saturday are expected to be quieter, with sunny skies and highs in the 80s.
Forecasters predict a heat wave will begin starting Sunday, with high temperatures reaching into the 90s, Webb said.
“The heat wave will last until at least Tuesday,” Webb said.
The region can expect high temperatures and high humidity early next week, according to the National Weather Service.
