HUDSON VALLEY, NY — This afternoon brings the potential for thunderstorms and heavy rain to the region, according to the National Weather Service.

“The atmosphere is currently very muggy, and primed for this type of weather,” Speciale said.

Storms could be severe, with the potential for flooding and damaging winds, she said.
On Saturday, there could be some additional showers and thunderstorms in the morning, but these will move to the northeast, bringing gradually clearing skies by Saturday afternoon, according to Speciale. Drier air will move in for the weekend. It will become less muggy and humid, making it more comfortable to be outside.
