Tree Cutter Dies After He Is Struck By Falling Tree In Woods

The Livingston Manor man suffered serious injuries after being struck in the chest and shoulder area, according to Wallkill police.

WALLKILL, NY — A tragic accident took the life of a worker in Orange County, according to police in Wallkill.

On Thursday, at 1:30 pm, officers were called to an emergency in a wooded area near Derby Road. At the scene, officers discovered the victim, a 45-year-old, unconscious on the ground.

Investigators said the Livingston Manor man was cutting a tree and suffered serious injuries after being struck in the chest and shoulder area by the falling tree. Town of Wallkill police, the Howells Fire Department and Town of Wallkill EMS personnel immediately began life-saving measures, including CPR. However, the victim was later pronounced dead.

The investigation into the accident is continuing, according to the Town of Wallkill Police Department.
