Trespasser Entered Family's Motel Room, Hit Child In Face: NYSP

After the victim's parents managed to get the Kingston woman out of the room, she was arrested by state police.

TOWN OF ULSTER, NY — A strange incident at an Ulster County motel has led to the arrest of a Kingston woman, according to state police.

New York State Police say that on May 23, around 3:15 p.m., troopers responded to the Kingston Motel, in the town of Ulster, after receiving a report of a physical domestic incident.

State police say that an initial investigation found that 33-year-old Brittany C. Santaliz, of Kingston, unlawfully entered a motel room and physically assaulted a 12-year-old child, hitting the victim several times in the face and causing injury.

The victim's parents managed to remove Santaliz from the motel room and immediately contacted authorities. The child sustained minor injuries, and was evaluated by EMS at the scene.

Santaliz was arrested and charged with felony first-degree burglary, misdemeanor third-degree assault, and misdemeanor acting in a manner injurious to a child less than 17.

She was arraigned in the Ulster County Centralized Arraignment Part and remanded to the Ulster County Jail on bail set at $5,000 cash, $10,000 bond, or $20,000 partially secured bond. Santaliz is scheduled to appear in Ulster County Court on May 28.
