Troopers Investigating Motorcycle, Police Car Collision: NYSP

WOODBURY, NY — A motorcycle collided with a police car and New York State Police are investigating.

NYSP say that on Wednesday, around 6:37 p.m., troopers in Monroe responded to reports of a collision between a motorcycle and a Town of Woodbury Police Department vehicle on Route 6, in the village of Woodbury.

An initial investigation found that a marked 2024 Dodge Durango, driven by a Town of Woodbury police officer, was traveling east in the passing lane of Route 6 when he activated the emergency lights to make a U-turn. While he was in the process of completing the U-turn into the westbound lanes, his vehicle was struck on the rear driver's side tire by a 2021 BMW motorcycle traveling east.

The driver of the motorcycle, identified as a 20-year-old from Highland Mills, was ejected from the motorcycle upon impact. He sustained serious injuries and was taken to Westchester Medical Center for treatment.

The officer was taken to St. Luke's Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
