Valley Central On 'Heightened Alert' Due To Out-Of-County Threat
The district said it takes the safety of its students and staff with the utmost importance.
MONTGOMERY, NY — The Valley Central School District in Montgomery is on “heightened alert” Friday because of an out-of-county threat to New York schools.
In a note to the community, superintendent of schools Evette Avila said the district received information about a non-specific threat from a concerned parent.
“We take the safety of our students and staff with the utmost importance,” she said.

Avila said she spoke with law enforcement and, out of an abundance of caution, the district was put on heightened alert for Friday.
She said there will be an additional police presence and district safety protocols and measures were actvitated.

Business will be conducted Friday at all schools “as usual,” Avila said.
