Victims Of Deadly I-87 U-Turn, Rollover Crash ID'd By New York State Police

Two victims died, and a 27-year-old woman was rushed to Westchester Medical Center in critical condition, according to NYSP.

ROSENDALE, NY — Authorities have released the identities of the victims in a fatal two-car crash on I-87.

On Tuesday, at 1:52 p.m., troopers from the New York State Police Thruway Kingston barracks responded to the two-vehicle collision on the New York State Thruway northbound, near milepost marker 83, in the town of Rosendale.

Crash investigators said a 2007 Nissan was traveling south on I-87 and entered the U-turn at mile marker 83 from the southbound lanes. A 2023 Kia was traveling north in the left lane when it collided with the Nissan as it was making a U-turn into the northbound lanes.

The impact caused the Nissan to roll over several times. Following the collision, the Kia struck the guide rail.

The passenger of the Nissan, identified as 81-year-old Esther Oliveras, of Elizaville, received lifesaving measures, but ultimately succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Nissan, 84-year-old Guillermo Olivera, also of Elizaville, was taken to Westchester Medical Center, where he later died.

The driver of the Kia, identified as 21-year-old, Amiah Desiah Lea Corp, of Schenectady, was taken to Westchester Medical Center in critical condition.

The collision remains under investigation. Anyone with information regarding this incident is being asked to contact State Police Kingston at 845-344-5300.
