Weekend Pick: Foodology At The Mid-Hudson Children's Museum

In a workshop Monday, children can experiment with the ways food scientists can trick our tongues with processed foods.

HUDSON VALLEY, NY — The Mid-Hudson Children's Museum offers a special workshop on Presidents Day. With three sessions, you can pick one that works for your schedule.

The museum is geared for little kids, up to about six years old. In the Monday workshop, museum curators ask: can the taste and texture of food really be trusted?

At the workshop children will experiment with the ways food scientists can trick our tongues when they make processed foods. Then they'll make two kinds of mini apple pies – one normal, and one “deceptive” apple pie (…from a recipe that goes all the way back to the Great Depression!)
