2 Injured In Large Fire In Manhattan, FDNY Says

HELL'S KITCHEN, NY — A civilian and a firefighter were injured in a two-alarm fire in a Hell's Kitchen apartment building Sunday, New York City Fire Department officials said.

According to the FDNY, the fire started at 12:40 a.m. Sunday on the top floor of a four-story apartment building located at 450 West 49th St., which is near 10th Avenue.

It was a two-alarm fire with 106 firefighters and medics on the scene as thick black smoke billowed from the top of the building, the FDNY said.

Firefighters brought the blaze under control by 4:14 a.m. Sunday, and two people were taken to Mount Sinai, authorities said.

One firefighter had minor injuries, and one civilian had non-life-threatening injuries, FDNY officials said.
