MIDTOWN, NY — After a fire tore through the holiday market in Herald Square early on Monday morning, the market's organizers have launched a GoFundMe campaign for the 18 business owners who had their booths damaged.

So far, the market has received donations from more than 100 people and raised more than $7,000, which will be split evenly between the impacted business owners, according to the fundraiser page.

According to the FDNY, the fire broke out just after 4 a.m. on Monday.

"This is a devastating moment for our market family, especially during what should be a joyful holiday season," Linda Aguilera, the organizer of the fundraiser, wrote.

Aguilera also said that shoppers should continue visiting the market, as there are many booths closer to 34th Street and 36th Street that were untouched by the fire.

"Now is the time to come together and support the small businesses that bring holiday traditions to our city," Aguilera wrote.
