Broadway Musicals To Hold Mini Concerts In Bryant Park

MIDTOWN MANHATTAN, NY — Take in some show tunes on your lunch break this summer. The annual "Broadway in Bryant Park" concert series is returning for its 20th season this summer in collaboration with radio station 106.7 Lite FM, the station recently announced.

Actors from productions such as "The Lion King," "Wicked" and "Mean Girls" will perform mini-concerts in Bryant Park for six consecutive weeks beginning Thursday, July 11. The concerts will be held each Thursday until Aug. 15.

"It is incredible to be returning for our 20th year with an all-star line-up of Broadway and Off-Broadway shows," Chris Conley, program director of 106.7 LITE FM, said in a statement. "It is because of our listeners and New Yorkers’ love of the theater that we are able to bring back this celebrated summer series and launch the exciting new iHeartRadio Broadway channel. We give our listeners what they want…and all that jazz!"

The one-hour performances will be open to the public and free to attend. Most performances feature actors from at least three different Broadway and Off-Broadway musicals. This year will feature the second "Disney on Broadway" showcase on July 25 featuring performances from the cast of "Alladin," "The Lion King" and "Frozen."

The shows will be held on the Bryant Park lawn between 12:30-1:30 p.m., according to a press release. Lawn seating for the performances is available on a first-come-first-serve basis.
