Brooklyn Woman Sues Macy's For Using Her Photo In Midtown Ads

MIDTOWN MANHATTAN, NY — A Brooklyn woman is suing Macy's, alleging they used a photo of her in an advertisement at their flagship store in Midtown without her permission.

Court documents show Stickers O'Neill claims she was damaged by the unauthorized use of the photo, which shows her playing in a fountain. An image attached to the lawsuit shows the photo in question on a Macy's electronic billboard with the text "BIG EMOTIONS" superimposed over it.

O'Neill is seeking monetary compensation, as well as an injunction prohibiting Macy's from using her photo in the future, court documents show.

Her case is filed in the Supreme Court of the State of New York, in the County of New York.

O'Neill also filed suit against New York City in September, saying plainclothes officers kidnapped her when they threw her into an unmarked van during a George Floyd solidarity protest.
