Cuba Gooding Jr. Faces New Charge In Groping Case: DA
The new charges will not be revealed until Gooding's Oct. 15 arraignment.

MIDTOWN MANHATTAN, NY — Actor Cuba Gooding Jr. will face additional charges in a New York City groping case, a spokesman for the Manhattan District attorney's office confirmed Thursday.
Gooding Jr. appeared in court Thursday where prosecutors revealed that the actor's indictment includes a new accusation against him. The "People v. O.J. Simpson" star was already facing forcible touching and sexual abuse charges following accusations that he grabbed a woman's breast without her consent at the Magic Hour Rooftop Bar and Lounge at the Moxy Times Square hotel on Seventh Avenue.
The new charges will not be revealed until Gooding Jr.'s indictment is unsealed during an Oct. 15 arraignment. The details of the accusation were not revealed by prosecutors.

Manhattan supreme court judge Phyllis Chu dismissed a motion by Gooding Jr.'s attorneys to drop the charges in August. Gooding Jr.'s lawyers argued that the charges should be dropped on the basis that two witnesses claimed the actor never touched his accuser and because a retired police officer reviewed surveillance footage from the club and determined that no crime occurred.
Lawyers also attempted to make the case that the woman who accused Gooding Jr. has "mental health issues" whereas Gooding Jr. has displayed high character during his career, rising "from a starving artist in the Bronx to a highly regarded and successful actor."
