Cyclist Hit, Killed by Cement Truck in Hell's Kitchen, Manhattan
The unidentified cyclist was declared dead at the scene of the crash at 12th Avenue and West 55th Street early Thursday, police say.
HELL'S KITCHEN, NY — A cement truck driver traveling west on West 55th Street toward the Hudson River waterfront, trying to make a right turn onto 12th Avenue, struck and killed a male cyclist early Thursday morning, according to the NYPD.
The cyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity had yet to be released by Thursday afternoon, as police were still working to properly notify his family of his death.
A preliminary NYPD investigation determined that the 56-year-old truck driver was making a right turn onto 12th Avenue when he struck the bicyclist, who was also traveling west on 55th and approaching 12th Avenue, police said.

When emergency responders arrived to the scene around 6:50 a.m., the cyclist was discovered unconscious and unresponsive, with severe trauma to his head and body, police said.
The driver of the cement truck remained at the scene, according to NYPD.
