Fire Breaks Out In High-Rise Near Columbus Circle, FDNY Says
The fire broke out shortly before 1:30 p.m. at a Central Park South apartment building.

MIDTOWN MANHATTAN, NY — A fire broke out Friday afternoon in a Central Park South building near Columbus Circle, causing heavy traffic in the area, according to police and fire officials.
Firefighters responded to the eighth-floor blaze at 222 Central Park South shortly before 1:30 p.m., an FDNY spokesman said. Twenty fire units and more than 70 fire and EMS personnel operated at the scene.
Police warned drivers to avoid the area near Central Park South during the fire. The NYPD's Midtown North precinct said to expect "traffic delays, and a heavy presence of emergency personnel" in the area.

No injuries were reported during the fire, an FDNY spokesman said.
