Tiffany's Fire Sends Smoke Eaters Rushing To Fifth Ave: FDNY
Video shows smoke pouring out of a ground-door of Tiffany & Co. on Fifth Avenue, which recently opened after a four-year major renovation.

MIDTOWN, NY — An electrical fire erupted at the historic Tiffany's building on East 57th and Fifth Avenue Thursday morning, according to fire officials.
Smoke poured from the ground floor windows at 727 Fifth Ave. about 9:40 a.m. and just months after the storied jeweler re-opened following a historic, four-year renovation, officials said.
Fire officials believe a transformer fire started from an electrical vault in the street, said the FDNY. Luckily no injuries have been reported.

Nearby properties — which most likely includes prominent next door neighbor Trump Tower — are also being inspected, the FDNY said.
Outside, a crowd gathered watching the fire teams work. Pat, who declined to offer her full name, said she was milling about outside not to rubberneck, but because someone told her she might be able to get inside the ultra-luxury landmark shortly.

"I am here to shop; that’s why I’m waiting," the woman said. "Maybe they’ll give a discount.”
Pat said that after shopping, she was hoping for a bite at the also renovated Blue Box Cafe, now headed by Michelin-starred chef Daniel Boulud.
Last month, the building received a $1,250 fine from the city for a scaffolding violation unrelated to the blaze, according to city records and the Buildings department.
In April, the building re-opened after a massive makeover, which analysts say could have cost up to $500,000, with a star-studded fanfare debut featuring stars like "Wonder Woman" film actress Gal Gadot, plus her fellow Tiffany & Co. ambassadors Hailey Bieber, Anya Taylor-Joy, Tracee Ellis Ross, Adria Arjona, Eileen Gu, and Jimin.
Other notable guests included Pharrell Williams, Florence Pugh, Zoë Kravitz, Blake Lively, Michael B. Jordan, Martha Stewart, Tiffany Haddish, Mark Wahlberg and Mayor Eric Adams.

French conglomerate LVMH famously sealed the deal in 2021 for $15.8 billion.
Reportedly, the pricy renovation came after LVMH CEO Bernard Arnault got lost inside the old building during a tour in 2019 as the conglomerate began negotiating a takeover, according to an interview with the Wall Street Journal.
Tiffany & Co. has been at their landmark home since 1940. Film buffs and Truman Capote fans will know it from the iconic "Breakfast at Tiffany's."
