Flatiron Duane Reade: Man Put Ice Cream Down His Pants, Tried to Steal it

When a security guard tried to stop him, he struck her in the face and bit her arm, police said.

You know when it's so hot out that you get a hankering for ice cream? And you're so hot that you get another hankering to put that ice cream down your pants and try to steal it from a Duane Reade in Flatiron?

Thomas McKnight, 30, knows these hankerings.

McKnight tried to steal ice cream from the Flatiron Duane Reade location by stuffing it down his shorts on July 8 just after 2:13 p.m., according to the NYPD. A security guard tried to stop him, and he struck the security guard in the face, scratched her cheek and bit her arm, police said. The security guard had swelling on her lip, redness on her arm, scratches to her face and "substantial pain," according to the Manhattan District Attorney's Office complaint. McKnight also grabbed the security guard's cell phone and threw it to the ground, breaking it.
