Gold Chain Ripped From Midtown Man's Neck: Police

The two strangers fled on a scooter last week, according to officials.

MIDTOWN, NY — Two men violently snatched a gold chain right off the neck of its wearer with such force that he fell to the ground, police said.

A gold chain-wearing 47-year-old man was walking on West 48th Street near Sixth Avenue on Friday at around 6 p.m. when two strangers crept up on him from behind, police said.

The two men, one dressed in a black balaclava, grabbed on to the necklace and ripped it from his neck with such force that the 47-year-old was pulled to the ground, leaving him with a minor arm injury, officials said.

Police said that the two thieves fled west on a red moped with the necklace and released a photo of two men believed to be connected with the incident.
