Hammer-Wielding Man Threatens Worker At Intrepid Museum, Cops Say
The man brandished the hammer after his request for five dollars was turned down.
HELL'S KITCHEN, NY — The NYPD is trying to identify a man who threatened an employee at the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum with a hammer, police said.
On Saturday morning a man entered the gift shop at the museum — located on an aircraft carrier in the Hudson River near West 46th Street — and swiped a sweatshirt and hat belonging to a store employee, police said. After donning the sweatshirt and pulling the hat over his head to disguise his face, the man approached a gift store employee and asked for five dollars, police said.
When the gift store employee denied the request, the man brandished a hammer, police said. Soon after threatening the gift store worker, the man fled the scene empty handed, police said.
