NEW YORK, NY — New York Knicks and Rangers owner James Dolan has recovered from a bout with the new coronavirus and is donating antibodies in an effort to treat those sick with the deadly disease, according to reports.

The 64-year-old sports owner, who doubles as the frontman of blues band JD & The Straight Shot, fell ill with the coronavirus in late March and has since made a complete recovery, team sources told the New York Post. Dolan's coronavirus symptoms were mild, and he continued to work while isolating at home, according to the report.

Dolan's illness and recovery occurred amid season suspensions for both the NBA and NHL. The sports suspension coupled with state mandates outlawing large gatherings has kept Madison Square Garden closed since mid March. Arena employees' salaries are being guaranteed through the month of May, the Post reported.

Now in good health, Dolan has donated blood to NYU Langone and plasma to the New York Blood Center and Mt. Sinai Hospital. In March, the United States Food and Drug Administration approved the use of plasma samples containing coronavirus antibodies as a therapy for patients suffering from the disease.

New York Blood Center is processing plasma donations it collects to maintain a bank of samples to treat patients with life-threatening coronavirus cases, the blood bank's officials said.
