Late-Night Basement Fire In Hell's Kitchen Burns For Hours: FDNY

It took over 100 smoke eaters more than two hours to fight the blaze, according to officials.

HELL'S KITCHEN, NY — A basement fire raged for over two hours on Wednesday night inside a Hell's Kitchen apartment building, according to officials.

The blaze broke out at 11:42 p.m. Wednesday night in the basement of 346 West 52nd St., a five-story 16-unit building between Eighth and Ninth Avenues, officials said.

Smoke eaters called a second alarm at 12:15 a.m., according to fire officials.

The Fire Department said it took over 100 fire fighters over two hours to finally get the fire under control at just before 2 a.m. Thursday morning.

Videos from Citizen show smoke billowing out of the building and numerous ladder trucks extended to the roof.

The FDNY said that there were no injuries from the long fire fight.
